Description: He's staring right at you, cold and unfeeling, head suspended in the darkness. On the left side, he is obscured by blocks of color that fade as they move upward into a haze. But on the right side, though he shows no emotion, his eyes shed very light, almost imperceptible tears. This upward effect on the left and downward effect on the right is representative not only of an addict's duality and duplicity but also of a stroke. The messy varnish shows that while the man’s façade is polished, it is by no means seamless. Its traces are clear.
